Leeds Tykes is delighted to announce our next batch of players who have committed their future to the club for the 2024/25 campaign.
They are:
Ewan Laughton
The scrum-half didn’t make an appearance last season, spending his time supporting the squad in the background. He developed his skills at the University of Leeds.
We asked Ewan: “You spent last year focusing on rugby with the University of Leeds, how has that been for your development as a player and what are you hoping to bring back to the Tykes?”
He told us: “Spending the last year playing under Pete at university has allowed me to take on more of a leadership role and develop different aspects of my game. This year, I hope to build on the success of Tykes’ last season with more maturity and a greater skillset.”
Eddie Brown
Eddie was another ever-present player in the last campaign’s squad, with 26 appearances either in the starting line-up or off the bench. The back-rower found his way over the try line 9 times.
Lucas Walsh
Lucas graduated from the 2022/23 development squad, scoring 5 tries in 15 outings for the Tykes in his first season with the squad, playing in the second row.
When we asked Lucas: “What was your first taste of senior rugby like last year and what are your personal goals for the upcoming season?”
He replied: “Personally, the season couldn’t have gone much better for me. It was a big jump coming out of the colts at West Park to Leeds Tykes. The game is faster and a lot more physical. Having the opportunity to play alongside some great players like Johnny Teague, Eddie Brown and Junior Nu’u has really helped me develop as a player.
“There are a lot of things I want to achieve this season as a team and personally. My main goal this season is to be more involved during the game. More carries. More tackles. More tries!”
Watch out for more announcements about retained players coming soon.
